Tips For Improving Internet Speed

When you access our internet service, the information comes from THREE Verizon T-1 lines out of San Angelo.  The bandwidth of these lines gives us the fastest internet available in Sonora.  Occasionally, there have been outages caused by Verizon, but this is very rare.

The biggest threat to the speed of our internet is file sharing (music downloading) software such as Limewire.  Our customers need to be aware of how Limewire works and how it can affect all of our customers.  Click on the Limewire link to see how to configure the program so it will not adversely effect other users.

We monitor our network traffic and the spam comes most days at 10:00 am.  While our Lightspeed software keeps it out of your mail box, it still takes up most of our bandwidth.

The speed of the internet is most often determined by events outside of our network.  Some sites such as Yahoo and MSNBC vary tremendously depending on how many users worldwide are pounding their sites.  Also, if you hit their site while it is being updated, it will appear slow.
